Meet Cheryl Honeyfield
Certifying Doula

Kia ora, congratulations and welcome to the world of pregnancy, babies and doulas.
My name is Cheryl, and I live with my husband Guyot and our four children Loup, Jade, Frederic and Indi. We have just started a new exciting chapter in our lives, by moving to the mountains in the South Okanagan area.
I grew up on a small coastal farm in New Zealand, with my parents and three siblings. After discovering snowboarding at the age of 17, I was off exploring the ski resorts around the World. At 20, the Canadian Rockies became my new home and after a bit of back and forth travel, (including getting married and raising a family) we now are settling into our life in the valley.
After having our first born, (well... during labour if i'm honest) I was completely amazed at the power of our bodies. It opened up the doors for me on researching more in-depth about birthing history, our body dynamics, hypnobirthing, prenatal yoga, health and most importantly........the power of the mind.
Three babies later, a friends birth and a Doula Canada training certificate, I am breathing into exploring my passion.
Duck Duck Doula (named by our two oldest children) is here to help support you on your story of becoming a mother, even if this is not your first time birthing. We support all birthing plans, even if you have no idea of what a birth plan is!
Our goal is for you to feel heard, feel supported and feel safe.

“There is a secret in our culture,
and it is not that birth is painful. It is that women are strong.
-Laura Stavoe
What is a Doula?
A support bridge for the birthing families

Doula translated;
a women who serves
Extra help
A doula is hired to help their client. This can float from filling up the birthing pool so the partner has time to support their birthing spouse, help the client be aware of their choices in labour or be with their client for every deep breath they take. They are here for you!
Comfort
A doula helps provide phyiscal comfort to their client throughout their birthing journey. This can include massage, applying heatpacks or just listening to their fears and wishes.

Support
A doula is a companion for your time in labour, birthing and post-patrum. They support you emotionally, as well as your partners or family member that may need .
Non-medical
A doula does not offer medical services or replace a midwife or doctor. A doula is not an expert.
Resources
Your local doula has a wealth of knowledge on resources within your area that may be of interest to you. Most doulas are happy to provide this information, regardless of client status.

If you're breastfeeding and worried about how this is going to work, we can have a gentle waking up plan in place, so you (and your partner) can get as much rest as possible.
